So many LO fans act like Demeter is an absolutely awful mother for sheltering Persephone. According to them she’s an abusive helicopter mom. But like, in the context of the world, Demeter was not in the wrong.

Persephone should not have gone to Olympus.

Artemis, her caretaker, abandoned her at a party, which led to her getting blackout drunk and put into a strangers car by two Olympians because of something someone else said about her. She was then gaslighted by one of the Olympians. (Idc you abandoned your gf and you miss her. Don’t drug someone cuz your mom told you to.) She was then sa’d because her caretaker didn’t follow the rules Demeter had set. She was given a job in the underworld even though she was against it. Even though she was a candidate for a life of celibacy she was paired off with Heras bil because Hera felt bad for him. She was lusted over by a 2000 year old man with severe mental issues. Said man ruined her social life at school because I made him feel better. She got tricked into going into a very very dangerous situation by the old man’s spiteful ex

All in one week

Not even mentioning how Hera disguised herself to trick demeter because she disagreed with her parenting style, went against demeter and persephones original plans for tgoem and started shipping her with hades and her sons. How persephone was attacked by shades because she was given a job she was unqualified for. How she got into a relationship at 20 years old with a man 100x her age that she only knew for two weeks. Persephone literally singlehandedly brought Kronos back to life. And then had to fight him. And become queen. AS A CHILD.

I get helicopter parents are bad and Demeter is not without her faults, but in the context of how the Gods are, I do not blame her.

And this is a completely other rant, but Demeter has every right to oppose Hades’ relationship with Kore.

He’s 2000 Kores 30. He spent his entire life antagonizing her. Refusing to vote for her and bribing Zeus not to give her a position she rightfully earned. Yet he gets to be king without doing anything. This blueberry capitalist predator basically groomed her daughter. But because they’re #couplegoalz she’s in the wrong.

Demeter deserves better.

I’d argue Hades did something to deserve being king of the underworld, among other things eating the pomegranate but also agreeing to be the eternal guardian of his abusive father, but the rest is spot on.

You can’t judge Demeter by the rules of our world, particularly when the rules of her world are so different from ours.

Hey does anybody just… LOVE the Sun? Like the Moon is great and I feel relax and calm under the moon, but I just feel the Sun is sooooo much more energizing to me! Its kinda hard to explain but I just feel connected to the Sun so much more than the Moon and the night(which feels more like a time for resting and research). 

If anyone has any advice for how to further this connection with the Sun and what spirits could be associated with the Sun, please let me know! Have a good day!

If you look into the Quarter and Cross-Quarter Days, you’ll find long standing traditions build around the path of the sun. These are what Gardner built his  “Wheel of the Year” and the Sabbats around. But this seasonal turning of the sun was followed and celebrated throughout history in many different ways. Pre-Covid I could even join the “Long Night” celebration hosted by the local UU group. 

It is perhaps a common glitch on social media to think that everything in witchcraft focuses on the moon while not realizing the 8 big celebrations are solar celebrations.
